At their regular meeting, the Holy Synod of the BOC-BP as a whole prepared a list of candidates for metropolitan election in the Diocese of Sliven among the people with episcopal status.
St. The Senate resolved:
According to Art. 85, para. 1 of the UBOC – MP, confirming the following list of eligible bishops, candidates for the metropolitan election in the Diocese of Sliven:
Reverend Bishop Sionis
Bishop Arsenius of Znepole
Bishop Gerasim of Melanes
Bishop Pachomius of Branica
Bishop Macarius of Glavinice
Bishop Isaac of Velbazhda
Surprisingly, among the approved candidates is not Agatopol Bishop Hierotei, who was until recently the vicar of Sliven Metropolis.
It was he who asked representatives of the Burgas clergy to become the new capital. Before the votes were counted by the Holy Synod and the scandals that followed, Hierothei also received the majority of votes in the diocesan election.
This will almost certainly lead to a response from the representatives of the Orthodox Church in Burgas and Sliven.
