The holiday season increases the number of passengers in Leipzig/Halle and Dresden

As Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG reported on Thursday, some 104,000 passengers were counted in Dresden in August, an increase of 91 percent compared to the same month last year. In Leipzig/Halle there were around 202,000 passengers (up 60.4%).

Flights to destinations in Turkey, Greece and Spain have been particularly popular, according to the airport operator.

In August 2019, the number of passengers at the two locations of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG was significantly higher. At that time there were 149,000 in Dresden and 283,000 in Leipzig/Halle.

The balance sheet since the beginning of the year is similar. In the first eight months of this year, Dresden counted 530,000 passengers (up 296%) and Leipzig/Halle just under 961,000 (up 252%).

In the pre-Corona year 2019, these values ​​were 1.03 million passengers in Dresden and 1.71 million in Leipzig/Halle.
