He experienced an unforgettable and at the same time the most beautiful day in his life. Hockey player Dominik Kubalík with the national team entered the home world championship successfully when he and his teammates defeated the Finnish selection 1:0 after separate raids. But the Czech forward’s thoughts were going in a different direction, as a different story was being written on Friday afternoon.
His daughter Mia was born in a Pilsen hospital. “My life changed, the most beautiful day of my life,” described the new father

Overall, he had a hectic day. “When I got the news in the morning, I was emotionally up and down. It was all about the lady, she handled it fantastically. I was more of a bag holder,” he joked on his account.
Jakub Voráček experienced a similar situation in 2019 at the World Championship in Bratislava. He had his second son on the day of the match against Latvia, and scored two goals and assisted twice in the match. “Voras handled it better. I also tried to play the best I could. I’m glad that we did it and won,” Kubalík was pleased with the victory over Finland.
“My life changed, the most beautiful day of my life. Now I can perhaps admit that my thoughts were flying elsewhere.”
Initially, he didn’t even know if he would jump into the match. “The coaches knew everything. An option was prepared if I didn’t play. But I didn’t plan, I was concentrating on being with the lady. I wanted to be with her,” he recounted.
At the same time, he did not hide his joy at the result of the match. “The first step is the most important, it falls off a little bit from us. We were looking forward to the first match, the performance was very decent. I believe it will go up,” the forward mentioned.
However, the celebrations of the birth of daughter Mia will go to the side. The Czech national team has a busy schedule on Saturday, they will challenge Norway from 20:20. “I’ll drink just enough protein. I’m looking forward to looking at my phone and having a photo of the little one,” concluded Kubalík.
