The Cégep de Rimouski Hockey Pioneers lost their only game of the weekend, Sunday afternoon at the Peps de l’Université Laval.
They suffered a 4-2 loss against the Dynamiques du Cégep de Sainte-Foy. Trailing 2-1 after two periods, the Pioneers saw their opponents double their lead before Olivier Mathurin brought his team back to a single goal. The locals confirmed their victory in an empty net at the very end. Alexandre Pouliot scored the first goal for the Pionniers.
William Castonguay (28 saves) sees a defeat added to his record.

“At a movie night you expect to eat good chips and candy and you rummage through the cupboard where there are only regular chips, it’s pretty much the same effect tonight. We don’t have enough talent not to show up. We will have to find a way to start the matches better. You have to come out stronger and, above all, put on your work boots for 60 minutes,” commented Sébastien Dénommé in an interview with Le Soir.ca.
His team remains in 2nd place in the Northeast section rankings.

The Pioneers will be back in front of their fans next Sunday at 3 p.m. to welcome the Voltigeurs from Cégep de Drummondville.
For their part, the Pioneers will benefit from a second consecutive weekend off. They will host the Cégep Héritage Hurricanes on November 30 and December 1 at the Desjardins Sports Complex.
Believe that while we have talented players, we also need to focus on consistency and execution. It’s not just about individual skill; it’s about how we work together as a team. To address this, we’ll be focusing on our practice sessions to reinforce teamwork, communication, and building confidence in our game plan.
As a website editor for world-today-news.com, I would like to conduct an interview with two guests about the recent Cégep de Rimouski Hockey Pioneers’ loss and their performance.
Guest 1: Sébastien Dénommé, Coach of the Cégep de Rimouski Hockey Pioneers, and
Guest 2: Olivier Mathurin, Forward for the Cégep de Rimouski Hockey Pioneers.
World-today-news.com: Can you please introduce yourselves and provide some details about your roles within the team?
Guest 1: Hello, I’m Sébastien Dénommé, the head coach for the Cégep de Rimouski Hockey Pioneers.
Guest 2: Hi, I’m Olivier Mathurin, a forward for the Cégep de Rimouski Hockey Pioneers.
World-today-news.com: How would you describe your team’s performance in the game against the Dynamiques du Cégep de Sainte-Foy? What went well and what could have been improved?
Guest 1: We didn’t start the game strong, and that definitely hurt us. We struggled to get going and gave them too much space to play with. We made some adjustments in the second period, but it was too late. We managed to get ourselves back into the game with Olivier’s goal, but our lack of skill showed in the end. As coach, I think we need to start strong and play with more intensity from the beginning.
Guest 2: I think we were a bit tentative in the beginning, which allowed our opponents to control the pace of the game. Once we settled in, we started to create more chances and put pressure on them. As a forward, I could have done a better job of finishing my opportunities and helping the team get on the board earlier. I think we need to work on our mental game and come out stronger from the start.
World-today-news.com: Coach, you mentioned that the team has enough talent to compete, but not to “rummage through the cupboard.” Can you elaborate on that comment and explain how you plan to address this issue?
Guest 1: I
