The hockey extra league will not be interrupted. The clubs believe in individual capacity in stadiums

“After considering all the pros and cons, we have come to the conclusion that the extra league will continue over the next fortnight. We took into account the health condition of all weeks, some of them are in quarantine, so it is already clear that we will drop out of matches (from the original schedule), “Řezníček summed up the more than two-hour meeting.

This means that until the end of this week, the limit of a maximum of a thousand spectators at winter stadiums applies, and from Monday (not only) hockey will be played for two weeks without spectators. The crucial thing, however, is that the extra league will not be interrupted.

For preventive reasons, Zlín postponed Saturday’s duel with Pilsen

But it is already clear that the original draw will not be completely polka dot. Also because of the teams that will be in quarantine right now. At present, it includes Karlovy Vary, Litvínov, Mladá Boleslav, Pardubice and Třinec. They then undergo tests for covid-19 in Hradec Králové and Zlín, and it is possible that they will also end up in quarantine.

“We have agreed on an alternative arrangement of the originally scheduled matches so that it suits all clubs. We will have to look at and count the teams that can play at all and create a fair schedule, “said Řezníček, adding that there is a variant to translate the matches scheduled for Sunday, October 18, to Monday, October 19.

This is due to the fact that the two-week ban on fans in the stadiums will end on October 19. Clubs; maybe a little naive; believes that from October 19, spectators could return to winters.

What’s next, extraligo? The boss convened a conference, will the clubs decide to interrupt the competition?

“The clubs have expressed absolute hope that negotiations will continue through the National Sports Agency and its head Milan Hniliček with government authorities on individual capacities in stadiums, such as in Switzerland,” Rezníček added.

At the same time, the clubs are eager to see when an extraordinary subsidy program will be approved, which would compensate them for the economic losses caused by spectator restrictions. “We do not know the time horizon when this will happen, but everything has already been handed over to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, so it should be in the process,” Řezníček concluded.
