Acting Regent of Sidoarjo Hudiyono will build a halfway house for people living with HIV / AIDS (PLWHA). This was revealed after Hudiyono held an audience with a number of partners from the HIV / AIDS Commission (KPA).
“The district government will try, through discretionary policies, we will communicate with the DPRD. We agree with the halfway house proposal, we have accommodated the proposal and try to discuss it again,” said Hudiyono, Wednesday (11/25/2020).
Hudiyono continued, discretionary policies and communication with the DPRD were needed before development. Because the development must have regulations for its submission.
“We can help every year but there must be regulations that are passed. Such as applying for grants to help meet nutritional needs,” said the man who is familiarly called Cak Hud.
The Delta Crisis Foundation, one of the KPA partners that focuses on mentoring, mentioned the number PLWHA in Sidoarjo an average of the middle to lower class society. For this reason, the foundation in the hearing proposed the fulfillment of nutrition rights for PLWHA and their families.
“On average, PLWHA are in the middle to lower class economy. The Sidoarjo Regency Social Service has provided support in the form of social assistance,” said Dinda from the Delta Crisis Foundation during the hearing.
“But we also hope that the Sidoarjo regency will provide nutrition assistance for the health of families with HIV / AIDS,” he added.
Dinda continued, it is hoped that the nutritional assistance will be distributed every month or quarter. As for the needs of a halfway house, it will later function as a coordinating place for PLWHA during assistance.
“Then the help of a halfway house for friends (PLWHA) to gather. If there is a shelter, it would be better if they were coordinated. There are those who experience conflicts with their families and we have helped mediation assistance,” said Dinda.
“PLWHA when experiencing stress will quickly drop their immune system, with a halfway house it can be a place for PLWHA friends to share,” he added.
amount PLWHA in Sidoarjo itself is always increasing every year. From the data released by KPA from January to August 2020 alone, 261 cases were recorded. The current total has reached 3,777 cases.
