The Ministry of Interior is conducting a thorough investigation into the slap case and an attempt to racketeer a police officer against a Turkish driver. According to Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov, records in police cars from the day of the incident were manipulated.
The victim Muhsin Kazan arrived in Sofia today to file a lawsuit against the police. However, he said he had met with support from his Bulgarian counterparts.
Muhsin Kazan testified before a prosecutor at the Turkish embassy for 3 hours about the slap he received from a Bulgarian police officer. He is adamant that he will seek his rights in court.
Believe me, the pain from the slap near Ihtiman did not go to Harmanli and Haskovo. I was constantly drinking water and smearing the area with cream. I would like to share that I am currently afraid when I enter Bulgaria. I have been on these roads for 28 years. “This is the first time something like this has happened to me. So I will want to do what is necessary to get both moral and financial retribution. I will not give up. No matter how long it lasts,” said the Turkish driver.
He says he did not expect the case to become so public.
“Last night at about 11 pm I entered Bulgaria through the border checkpoint – Kapitan Andreevo. We even joked with the passport control policeman. He told me: I recognized you !!! I saw you on TV. He asked me: Are you the one who ate the slap? I said: “Yes, I am,” Kazan said.
The disciplinary inspection of the Ministry of Interior has established who the police officers from the record are – the direct perpetrator has 18 years of experience. Both will be removed until the end of the disciplinary proceedings.
“Extremely shameful phenomenon, accompanied by a number of purely professional violations, which we all saw on the screen by traffic police officers in SDVR, which were reported. Second – an attempt to erase the traces of the violation. At least that’s the data at the beginning. I make such an arrangement by deleting the record by the officers themselves, which is done automatically by technical means of the police car itself, “said Boyko Rashkov, the interior minister.
The cameras in the police cars will be inspected. By order of Minister Boyko Rashkov, a comprehensive inspection of the activities of the “Security Police” of the Regional Directorate and the direct supervisor of the two police officers has been ordered. Tomorrow the victim Muhsin Kazan will meet with a representative of the Ministry of Interior.
“To some extent, this makes me happy – our voice was heard. Attention was paid to the transport sector. I hope this will give us additional protection and rights, because every day 1500 trucks enter Bulgaria from Turkey. And so many more travel “On the psychological point of view, I’ve dried up a bit, but I’ll do what is necessary,” said the driver.
“We have a Facebook page and a group of truck drivers. To be honest, the drivers from Bulgaria were very supportive. Thanks to them, the video of the incident, filmed with the camera in my truck, was distributed. They helped me a lot and I want to help them. Thank you for that. This is important to me because this is how I have spent so many years on these roads. Bulgaria and Turkey have a common border. We are neighbors, we say to ourselves: neighbor. That is why I felt calm on the road here but after this incident, I started to get scared, “said Muhsin Kazan.
