At a time when fiber arrives in the town and each house must have a very specific address, it is interesting to know since when the names of streets and paths have existed in Soual. By referring to the book of Doctor Jean-François Gourdou, some details can be given on this subject. The streets of Soual have multiplied and developed according to the history of its foundation and the general development of towns and villages over the centuries. In the Middle Ages, the first streets were called passades. Under the Ancien Régime, the development led to new streets inside the new ramparts and suburbs, the barri. During the nineteenth century, new straight roads were created connecting towns and villages, their parts in the village were built and became avenues. It was during the second part of the twentieth century that an acceleration in the development of municipalities was observed with the appearance of subdivisions and new streets. The street signs, in stone, appeared under the Ancien Régime, then in ceramic and finally in metal. House numbers came later. It was not until 1975, under the municipality of Michel Rondeau, that the names of the streets were officially fixed, as much for the old ones as for the new ones with numbering of the houses. Thus the names of the roads have become the names of avenues, such as the route de Revel which has become avenue des Pyrénées and the route de Toulouse, avenue de Toulouse. The names of the roads have become street names. Since then, any accommodation built after 1979 is required to have a standardized letter box and the house number clearly legible and correct, all this to facilitate the work of the various services and in particular the emergency services.
