About sixty lovers of old stones and history followed with great attention the conference given last Saturday in Genay by Clment Armand, a doctoral student archologist. He presented the excavation work he conducted in July, as well as the two previous years. The restoration of the 13th century eastern curtain revealed a painted decoration and the goradar campaign gave some indications on the elements still buried.
The 2019-2021 excavations took place in the pit around the castle, revealing various pieces of ceramics and arrowheads. In 2022, the excavations were concentrated in the inner courtyard revealing a living room and the beginning of a staircase. Little by little, the story of the feudal castle of Genay brings the beginnings of answers or raises new questions. The impatience grows but everyone knows that the work will still take time to determine more precisely who lived in the castle as well as the approximate dates.
