JAKARTA – Term volcano ancient may still sound strange to some people. Usually, they more often hear the names of active or inactive volcanoes.

Some time ago, a group of researchers discovered an ancient mountain off the Pacific coast of Canada. Interestingly, it turns out that the mountain is said to still be active.

Quoting the Live Science page, Tuesday (19/9/2023), previously the research team thought the ancient volcano was no longer active. However, they discovered the fact that the underwater mountain spews out warm water that is rich in minerals and keeps the surrounding waters warm.

So, what is meant by an ancient volcano? Check out the explanation below.

History of Ancient Volcanoes

The term ancient volcano refers to fossilized volcanoes that were once active, but are now no longer active, i.e. completely dead. Looking at its history, the ancient volcano was once an active volcano. However, due to a process or condition that occurs over time, the mountain becomes dead and no longer active.

When a volcano dies, its supply of magma is cut off. Meanwhile, the remnants also lost the ability to come out on top. Over time, the remaining magma will solidify and form rocks such as granite.
