A strategic royal fortress built in the 13th century, which became the royal residence of the Dukes of Anjou in the 15th century, Angers Castle has stood the test of time. Catherine LEROI (in charge of the public and development at the Château d’Angers) tells us some secrets. It shows the inscription left by an English sailor taken prisoner in the fortress in 1779.
