A heavy goods vehicle, traveling on the A31 motorway in the Thionville-Metz direction, was this Thursday morning around 10:30 a.m. in the grip of a fire, with a significant release of smoke and explosion noises.

Evacuate the trailer and its goods
A big plug quickly formed at the level of the EDF La Maxe power plant, and upstream. At 11.45 a.m., the traffic jam was cleared up.
But the A31 motorway had to be cut off to traffic. The motorway CRS took users out at the La Maxe exit and prohibited entry to the motorway from Woippy, but also from the port of Metz. At 1:45 p.m., the highway was still closed. And for good reason: it is a question of evacuating the charred trailer (the tractor was not damaged) but also what remains of its goods. Either a few heavy rolls of paper spared by the flames.
At the La Maxe interchange roundabout, users must therefore always take the D153 b towards La Maxe/Port of Metz or Avenue des Deux-Fontaines. For users wishing to reach Nancy, it is advisable to leave the A31 at Croix de Hauconcourt to take the A4 and then the Metz-Est bypass. Same route if you want to reach the city center of the Moselle capital.
