The recording will be live from the Metropolitan Opera
The 2011/2012 season marks 10 years since prima Anna Netrebko’s debut on the grand stage of the Metropolitan Opera. The event will be celebrated with a compilation of the soprano’s most memorable moments over the past decade. The operatic diva has not yet released a recording of her performance, so this will be her first live album.
Anna Netrebko is a phenomenon in the world of opera! Her first album sold more than 300,000 copies, the second – Semper libera – more than 400,000, and the album in which the singer performed Verdi’s famous La Traviata sold more than 350,000 copies. Her upcoming album, titled Anna Netrebko: Live at the Metropolitan Opera, captures her most impressive performances and will be invaluable to the hundreds of thousands of classical music fans worldwide.
The album includes works by Prokofiev, Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Gounod, Offenbach and Puccini. Anna Netrebko sings on the same stage with first-class opera singers such as Dimitri Hvorostovsky, Juan Diego Florez, Roberto Alagna, Joseph Calleja and Piotr Beczala.
A DVD recording will also be released in October, again of Anna Bolena, but filmed earlier at the Vienna State Opera. Also participating are the notorious Elïna Garanča and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo.
