As is now a tradition, the national edition of Forbes has presented its ranking of the highest-paid Czech athletes in the world this year, with some significant changes compared to the previous edition. The most notable is the significant increase in the income of some athletes, with all of the top 10 earning more than 4.9 million euros a year, and the predominance of hockey, as well as significant changes in both positions and earnings compared to the previous year.
David Pastrňák leads the list with €11.9 million thanks to his contract with the Boston Bruins. He is followed by Tomáš Hertl with €9 million, who is in second place after switching teams to the Vegas Golden Knights. In third place is Patrik Schick, a Bayer Leverkusen player, with €8.4 million.
Jakub Voráček is fourth with €6.7 million, having finished his sporting career but still active as a commentator and entrepreneur. After him, Ondřej Palát is fifth with €6.2 million, thanks to his career with the New Jersey Devils and his international successes, and the captain of the national football team, Tomáš Souček, is sixth with €5.8 million after renewing his contract with West Ham United, followed by Pavel Zacha of the NHL’s Boston Bruins in seventh with €5.2 million, and Jakub Vrána of the St. Louis Blues in eighth place with €5.1 million.
Filip Hronek is ninth with €4.9 million, although his new contract with the Vancouver Canucks will probably push him up the list in the future. Finally, Wimbledon winner Markéta Vondroušová rounds out the top 10 with €4.6 million, also being the only woman on this list and, at the same time, the youngest athlete of all.
