Twenty-two-year-old Pogačar surpasses Slovak star Peter Sagan. The contract for the three-time world champion ends in the German stable Bora-hansgrohe, which, according to the Cyclingnews server, guaranteed him 5.5 million euros a year. From the new season, Sagan will ride for the French team TotalEnergies, which is not one of the regular participants in the elite series WorldTour.
This year, in addition to defending the championship at the Tour de France, Pogačar also won other stage races in Tirreno-Adriatico, Around the UAE, Around Slovenia and the classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège. At the Olympics, he won bronze in a mass start race.
