Information technology is among the most sought-after professions in Vietnam

Occupations related to information technology, high technology and ancillary industries are high-demand occupational groups, experts said.

The vice-president of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, Trân Anh Tuân, quoted by the newspaper Hai Quan (Customs), said the Fourth Industrial Revolution fueled the expansion of the labor market and occupations.

He estimated that industrial technologies would be the most demanded profession in the future, accounting for 35% of the country’s total demand.

Fields such as automation, automotive technology, electronics, graphic and industrial design and environmental technology are attracting many employees, he predicted.

Information technology, business administration and finance are in high demand, he said, adding that digital transformation in logistics and supply chain, e-commerce, digital marketing, multimedia, finance and banking will lead to a sharp increase in the demand for human resources.

Other most in-demand jobs also include social science and health care groups as well as those related to the application of high technology in the agricultural sector, he noted.

The 2023 salary survey report released by Navigos Group also pointed out that information technology is an industry that still has good demand for recruitment, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies with large customer data such as banking, telecommunications and retail have recruited more experienced staff in this area.

Experts said that information technology still has a stable recruitment demand and is expected to continue to have a high growth rate in 2023.

Assessing the demand for high-quality human resources for the technology industry, FPT Corporation Chairman Truong Gia Binh said that with the strong development in the field of semiconductor chips in particular and global technology in general, it is time to create a new attraction for Vietnam’s technology industry and attract foreign companies to invest in the country with an abundant source of highly skilled technical workers.

The Hanoi Employment Service Center said that with the capital’s economy picking up in 2022 and early 2023, the labor market saw positive signals in the first quarter of this year. He added that the demand for recruitment from companies will continue to increase in the future.

Data from the center showed companies needed 12,000 to 15,000 workers in the first quarter, mostly in high-skill positions such as computer and software developers and game programmers.

With the enactment of numerous policies and programs to stimulate tourism demand and promote recovery, tourism is an industry that has strong demand in the first quarter and in the coming times, said Vu Quang Thanh, deputy director of the center, adding that the recruitment sector demand is around 10,000 to 12,000.

Ho Chi Minh City, the economic megacity in the south, needs 280,000 to 300,000 or 300,000 to 320,000 additional workers in 2023, depending on the economic growth of the world and major countries, according to the Center for Forecasting Labor Needs. of work and information on the city’s labor market.

Recruitment requests are concentrated in the service sector, with 57.69%, and industries, with 20.31%.
