The Hidden Territorial Plans for Bulgaria’s Coal Regions: Former Chief Prosecutor Exposes Government’s Betrayal

The former chief prosecutor and leader of the “Justice for Bulgaria” association Ivan Geshev accused the government of hiding from the Bulgarian society the territorial plans for a just transition of the coal regions of Stara Zagora, Pernik and Kyustendil, BNR reported.

“Today I gathered the legal team of the Association “Justice for Bulgaria”. The purpose of our meeting was to familiarize ourselves in detail with the decision adopted by the Council of Ministers and to discuss the possibility of it being attacked in court. We wanted to prove that it was adopted with the laws of the country and stop its implementation”.

This is what the former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev wrote on his Facebook profile.

Here is the rest of his presentation:

“However, what we discovered was scandalous – it turned out that the decision was not there. All other acts of the Council of Ministers can be discovered, but not the most important one – the one because of which our country is already under blockade for the second day.

And what comes out? The decision was sent to the EC, but it is hidden from the Bulgarian citizens. Why?

The answer is clear. First, because there are certainly things in it that we should not see. If the document comes to light, it will shine a light on the duplicity of our politicians and the way they betrayed us. And secondly – so that he cannot appeal. If you do not have the text of the decision, you cannot challenge it in a courtroom.

How would I define this behavior? As another betrayal of the assembly and sale of the interest of every single Bulgarian. Ruining yet another sector of our economy and dooming tens of thousands of families to unemployment. From long-time exporters, we are being turned into dependent consumers. A second-hand country in the EU.

Publish the document now!

And then immediately resign!” urged Geshev.
