The family’s latest intention is to change the status of 3,457 square meters of land in the “Karatoprak” area in Belashtitsa in order to build on it. This explains Gimishev’s desire to present himself as a concerned eco-activist. Throughout the summer, he organized small protests in Belashtitsa, preventing trucks belonging to the concessionaire company “European Roads” from transporting material from the quarry and repairing roads in the Plovdiv region.
European Roads JSC filed a lawsuit against Pavel Gimishev for non-property damages. The occasion was his numerous statements in the media, in which he stated that, despite the expired concession, the company was extracting material in the quarry. The company denies these claims. “Through these actions of his, Pavel Gimishev discredits the company, harms it and manipulates society,” are categorical from “European Roads” JSC.
IC “Stop the quarries in Belashtitsa” started the procedure for the separation of the village of Belashitsa from the Municipality “Rhodopi” and its annexation to Plovdiv. Fermentations began among the local population and the idea was not universally accepted. Some suspected that the members of the Initiative Committee had hidden interests. Gimishev himself manipulated all the residents of the village for personal gain, putting pressure on them to participate in a referendum on the separation of the village from the “Rodopi” municipality.
