Dental expert Whitney DiFoggio warned of the danger of carbohydrates to dental health, stressing that eating carbohydrates is more dangerous to the teeth than candy. The study was published on the NYPost website.
Eating carbs is worse than sweets
Dental expert Whitney DiFugio pointed out the danger of carbohydrates to the teeth, such as: white bread, pasta, potato chips, cereals, and crackers.
The reason fermentable carbohydrates are so bad for your teeth is that they specifically break down into sugars as they are chewed in the mouth, calling them “false sugars.”
She continued: These carbohydrates make the mouth more acidic because saliva needs extra time to remove sticky food from your teeth, which increases your chance of tooth decay.

On the other hand, dark chocolate is good for teeth, because it can be washed off easily, as are foods that require vigorous chewing, such as: carrots and celery, while whole grains are generally better for your teeth.
However, if you want to eat some sticky sweets or a bag of potato chips, the dentist advises eating all the snacks at once, because snacking throughout the day is the worst of all for the teeth, because the mouth is constantly acidic.
DiFoggio warned against not brushing your teeth continuously, especially since it takes between 24 to 72 hours for plaque to harden on the teeth, which is the sticky film that accumulates on our teeth throughout the day, and turns into permanent tartar. Therefore, it is advisable to give up just one day of using it. Dental floss can accelerate harmful buildup, which has the potential to erode bone, cause gum disease or tooth decay and loss.
