The “hidden” danger in mobile phones: Data theft!

Data, one of today’s most important resources, is almost an unshared treasure. In addition to companies that access data legally, there are also “data thieves” who illegally collect data in this sector. While phones and smart devices are the gateway to this data theft, data theft is one of the most experienced events at this point.

All this wealth of data attracts those who want to commit identity theft and fraud. There are several signs that your smartphone may have been compromised.

INDICATORS INDICATING THAT DEVICES HAVE BEEN SAVED

ESET malware researcher Lukas Stefanko listed the signs of a device being compromised as follows:

“Battery draining faster than normal. Experiencing spikes in your internet data usage even though your browsing habits haven’t changed. Your GPS or internet can be enabled or disabled on its own. Random ad pop-ups or unknown apps loading without your authorization. Sudden shutdown or complete shutdown of good apps “Failed to fail, showing unexpected errors. The phone automatically tries to call premium international numbers. You can see them in your outgoing call list. You start getting strange calls or messages. If your Android phone is hijacked by ransomware, you may not be able to log into your cell phone.”

HOW DATA SHOULD BE PROTECTED?

Protecting data is as easy as losing it. Software researcher Stefanko offered the following advice at this point:

“Update both your operating system and your apps as soon as the latest versions become available. Keep a backup of your data safely.
When downloading apps, stick with the official store and always make sure to check the reviews of both the app and its developer. Be aware of common tactics cybercriminals use to infiltrate devices.”
