The picture turned out to be too heavy for the audience.
Gabriel Troepolsky presented his story “White Bim Black Ear” in 1971. The work instantly gained popularity, and six years later director Stanislav Rostotsky presented its film adaptation.
The audience was delighted with the heavy film. “White Bim” was nominated for an Oscar, and in 1978 it was recognized as the best by the publication “Soviet Screen”.
Critics still consider the drama one of the most striking in Soviet cinema. However, not all viewers decide to watch the film again. As fans note, Rostotsky made an overly dramatic and difficult movie, which, despite its strengths, cannot be turned on again.
“It’s a sad story, just like the movie. I watched it as a child and didn’t dare to watch it again,” “I watched this film as a child, now I’m 56, and I can’t watch it again and relive it…”, “And I’ve never watched it again. I looked at it when I was 6 years old, and I haven’t been able to decide since then,” – admit network users.
