The increase in the costs of the current accounts of banks in Italy over the last year it is considerable. According to a study carried out by Altroconsumo, an association of consumers and users that declares over 350 thousand members, in February the increases are set in a range ranging from 7% to 14%. To raise the costs there is also the payment of a canon for possession of an ATM.
Altroconsumo’s analysis
The consumer association compared the current cost of a Bank account with that of 2021 referring to commissions and new offers. This was studied on the basis of three parameters: families, young people and retirees. The dossier highlights that the indicator of total annual costs (ICC) in online current accounts grew by 13% reaching 78 euros for retirees with average operations (189 operations per year) and 12% for a total of € 87 for families with average operations (228 operations).
Who pays the most
Going more specifically, the Altroconsumo report is clear: families and retirees have suffered an increase in current account costs, while it has been better for young people. For them there are no particular shocks, also because the concessions towards those who are less aged they are always very rich and varied.
What are the cheapest banks
Altroconsumo went into depth on the proposals and offers of the various credit institutions operating in Italy by drawing up a ranking of the most convenient. In the first place we find the current account of “Che Banca!”, Which is tailored for families with average operations, that is, who carry out 228 transactions in the course of a year. This credit institution also excels in the ranking reserved for retirees with average operations estimated at 189 operations per year. In second place is Monte dei Paschi di Siena, while Banco Bpm closes the podium followed by Crédit Agricole. In the queue, in last position, we find Unicredit; just above Bnl Bnp Paribas.
