Antonio Sanò, founder of the website www.iLMeteo.it, confirms Nero’s 5 days: the heat will be oppressive until at least Wednesday with this long list of cities at 39-40°C, almost all located in the Centre-North: Alessandria , Bolzano, Caserta, Ferrara, Florence, Oristano, Pavia and Pistoia.

The liberation of August 25th

From Morocco to Central Europe
The Nerone anticyclone will extend from Morocco towards Central Europe and will cover above all central-northern Italy. In the South temperatures will be almost normal for the period, while in the North we will reach values 8-10 degrees higher than the average for the period. In other words, it is normal to expect 30-31 degrees around August 20-21, this year Nero’s ‘oven’ will produce maximum temperatures of 40°C. In short, a late heat that does not allow, among other things, to glimpse signs of a decisive abatement in the short term.

The South and the Balkans

The suffering of the mountains
With the freezing point then expected at 5,200 meters, the glaciers will continue to suffer and our mountains will present a climate typical of the Italian summer plains of the 80s and 90s: in practice it is as if the Italian climate of the other century had migrated to the top of 1,000 meters of altitude. In a few decades it is not excluded that 30 degrees may be reached even at 2,000 metres: this year we reached a new record of 27°C in mid-July.
Refreshment in the South
In short, with the Heat Storm starting today, i.e. a long period with temperatures above 37.8°C (100°F), we will experience Nero’s five days with record temperatures especially in the mountains and in the central-northern regions: this time to find some refreshment it will be better to flee towards the South.
