When on a leash, dogs often show how much energy they have. There is often pike and pull from left to right, what the stuff holds. A dachshund shows that there is another way.
Dogs keep you fit – mentally and physically. The daily walks train the heart and circulation and conversations on the street stimulate the brain cells. Seniors with dogs therefore often live healthier lives than older people who do not take care of a four-legged friend. The loneliness factor also plays a role: single seniors with a dog feel less alone, are more likely to strike up conversations with others on the street and thus interact more frequently with their fellow human beings.
Physical ailments are often a reason for deciding against a dog. You don’t have to be an athlete to hold a four-legged friend. It depends on the breed. There are dogs that need a little less exercise. Some Newfoundlands and St. Bernards are considered to be lazy when it comes to exercise. The age of a dog is also important when it comes to walking a dog.
Dog goes for a walk extremely slowly – for the sake of his master
Dogs are very social and can adapt extremely well to their master or mistress – if they want to. An Instagram video shows just how strong the bond can be.
You can see an older man bending over and walking with a cane. He is holding a dark brown dachshund on a leash. The man is visibly struggling to put one step in front of the other. He walks very slowly along the sidewalk – and his dog follows him patiently. Again and again the fur nose takes longer breaks so that its master can move forward without haste.
Old age or just consideration: Instagram users are enthusiastic
Unfortunately, it is not known when and where the recordings were made. The background is also not known. But it seems as if dog and master have been sharing their lives for a long time. As considerate as the dog behaves, it must have a great deal of respect for its master. However, other explanation models are also possible. So the dog, like its master, could already have reached an old age.
