Many people resort to pressing the “Snooze” button or the “Snooze” button to complete sleep again for 10 minutes and then wake up. Thus, the person may continue to postpone waking up by pressing this button, and pressing the snooze button every morning can negatively affect your health and disrupt… A healthy sleep cycle and you wake up feeling tired.
How does the snooze button on your alarm affect your sleep cycle?
According to the “Health” website, experts explained that pressing the snooze button may lead to disruption Sleep cycle A person, where the sleeper goes through a cycle of different sleep stages every 90 to 120 minutes during the night, 3 stages of non-rapid eye movement sleep (light sleep) and one stage of rapid eye movement sleep (deep sleep), and he may wake up from a nap in one stage. Light sleep, this poses a health risk.
Sanjay Kansagra, a professor of pediatric neurology and sleep medicine at Duke University Health, said that when someone’s alarm clock rings in the morning, they may be awakened from rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, which is the first stage of sleep, and REM sleep usually occurs. Later in a person’s sleep, this is when the brain is active and people often dream at this stage.
Once someone wakes from REM sleep, they may or may not go back to lighter sleep, Dr. Kansagra added [الدقائق القليلة التالية من النوم] Refreshing as if you were going to spend those minutes in a deeper sleep.”
Patrick Fuller, MD, a neurologist and professor of neurosurgery at UCLA, said there is a possibility that someone could return to REM sleep after snoozing an alarm clock, but even continuing to sleep deeply during a nap causes some problems.
“You might, for example, put yourself back into a REM cycle,” Fuller added. “And that’s very confusing for the brain, so you wake up disoriented.”
This could be related to a phenomenon called sleep inertia, which is the feeling of groggy, disoriented, or sluggish thinking that many people experience after waking up in the morning or after a longer nap.
Researchers are still trying to come to a conclusion about the relationship between sleep inertia and sleep depth, but waking up from deeper sleep may lead to greater sleep inertia, or ataxia.
As a result, hitting the snooze button repeatedly may make a person feel more disoriented and tired after getting out of bed.
A nap can also affect the body’s circadian rhythm, which controls blood pressure, metabolism, body temperature, and more.
Dr. Kansagra said that if a person had extra time to hit the snooze button in the morning, a healthier choice would be to simply wake up with one alarm rather than multiple alarms.
He added: “Just set your alarm for the latest time you can wake up. This way, you ensure yourself to get as much and better quality sleep as possible, instead of having to hit the snooze button multiple times.”
