The health of the nation .. psychological – Laila Ibrahim Shalaby

I was shocked by this event, which this week was painfully reported by the media and social media: the killing of the girl Basmala by her teacher after a brutal blow with a cane she received in the head among her classmates. in their elementary school in one of the Sinbillawain villages in Dakahlia Governorate.
Basmalah made a mistake in the spelling of some letters, so the teacher rushed to her with a blow of a motivated stick in her hand, depositing with great force all the bitterness of her frustrations, inability, anger towards the world and her hatred for the fate that had befallen him .. So it was a fatal blow that did not wait for the poor woman for hours until she met her Lord, and no attempt to save her was successful.
Can anyone denounce sympathy for this person who, at a decisive moment in his life, was the murdered murderer? The people of Sinbillawain came out crying the little girl who left her family home to go to school one morning and was killed by her teacher, who was almost a messenger! I continued to read the heart-breaking images regarding the details of the incident, which cast a thick dark shadow over the global Mental Health Day celebrations on October 10 this year.
There is a sane person who could imagine that the teacher who smashed his little student’s skull; Why did you make a mistake in writing a psychologically and mentally healthy person? He, for God, is a miserable human being afflicted by a disease of the soul and spirit, in a profound disagreement with himself, which has led him to be dissonant with it to the point of schizophrenia. There is no doubt that he is a man whose skin has thinned and his senses have conspired against him and a deep rift has formed in his soul, turning it into ruin. As for the innocent child, she, her family and her colleagues have only God who is able to heal deep wounds and heal the painful effects in their souls.
The link between the health of the soul and the health of the body is something that has become a reality in everyone’s mind, but it is a fact that has yet to take root in the reality of everyday life. A fact that deserves a person to make a clear and realistic effort to get a full right. The state also has a role for which efforts should be monitored and laws drafted whereby citizens hope for the legitimacy of getting what supports their mental health in addition to their physical health.
Under the slogan “Make mental health a priority for all”, the United Nations celebrated World Mental Health Day, which remains one of the most neglected aspects of health care according to the global health classification, especially after exposure to repercussions of the Crown pandemic, which has affected the peoples of the world without exception, which has led to short- and long-term pressures to undermine the psychological and mental health of millions of people. The number of cases of anxiety and depression is estimated to have increased by more than 25% during the first year of the outbreak.
Mental health, no doubt, should be given the importance it deserves from the state in the global health insurance law, the final form of which is currently being drafted.
Talking about mental health does not have to start and end with an incident that shakes the nation’s consciences, as happened this year with the celebration of Mental Health Day, and it looked like an iceberg, with only its top poking out, while it is hampered by a plumb in the depths of the ocean.
The state must manage a fair budget to improve the capacity of mental health service institutions, especially those that care for young people, such as addiction care institutions and mental health clinics in hospitals.
The state should also strengthen efforts that encourage everyone to speak out loud about the problems that cause various psychological pressures that result in psychological symptoms that threaten human safety in certain societies, such as work or family, and where people may be exposed. to discrimination, violence or persecution.
Egyptian society was worried on social networks about the issue of domestic violence, which has spread under the name of “Ismailia Bride” prepared by some as “a social banality”, but I saw it as an important phenomenon despite some exaggerations in the presentation why throw light on a real social problem that deserves attention and needs study and requires the intervention of organisms under different names. ‘deal’ food, while the media and social media vied to list the details.
God bless the soul of the innocent child, Basmala, and grant her a safe place to live in the days of her childhood, which He deprived of her on earth, the sick person.
We already have an urgent need to review mental health laws in our country and mobilize efforts to support its services.
Mental health is not a luxury, but a necessity no less important than the health of the body.
