MONTERREY, NL.- The health of the former governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón “El Bronco”, in prison is in danger; He has lost 13 kilos and his private doctors have not been authorized to treat him, denounces the lawyer Víctor Olea Peláez.
In an interview with El Universal, the legal representative of who was the first and only independent governor in Mexico indicates that the state of health of “El Bronco” is very delicate, which was notified to the control judges and to the prison authorities themselves, and it was requested that his private doctors be able to attend to him.
“Lately and after a visit made by his personal doctors, they certified that he suffers from a delicate hypertension of insulin resistance and also pictures of acute diverticulitis”, he refers.
According to the litigant, Rodríguez Calderón’s doctors have strongly and urgently recommended his hospitalization and comprehensive assessment in a private hospital that would have all the mechanisms that he requires to save his life; It is not a strategy for him to be in a better place, much less, he has been properly treated in the Apodaca prison.
“The control judge José Antonio Almaguer Garza determined and ordered that he be transferred immediately to a private hospital, but the prison authorities decided arbitrarily and disobeying this categorical resolution by the judge to transfer him not to the private one, but to the public one called University Hospital,” he says.
On whether Jaime Rodríguez Calderón will return to jail, his lawyer comments: “We don’t know, I reiterate that they have improperly, unjustifiably and illegally not allowed what he is entitled to, sending him to another hospital other than the one ordered by the judge, but what is more serious is not allowing access to his personal doctors and we have the well-founded fear that it will be claimed against all right to health of the former governor.
Olea Peláez emphasizes that not exhausting high-level medical treatment, as recommended by private doctors, seriously affects the state of her client’s health. “Don Jaime has lost more than 13 kilos since he entered prison, derived precisely from his discomfort, such as acute diverticulitis, his hypertension.”
He says that the former state president has two ongoing criminal proceedings, each of them very different.
It highlights that an amparo is already pending against the order linking to the process and the precautionary measure that was decreed by the judge of Nuevo León in the electoral crime. And for the abuse of authority, he was also linked to the process and ordered a justified preventive detention measure; “A protection against this decision was filed by the defense of Mr. Rodríguez and it is being processed.”
Víctor Olea Peláez does not rule out persecution for his client and asserts: “Don Jaime clearly has all the human and fundamental rights to fight for his health, beyond the status of his legal proceedings, so we regret that this attitude of persecution continues. ”.
