The pomegranate tree is considered a perennial tree and its cultivation has become widespread in most Arab countries due to its warmth and in the areas bordering the Mediterranean Sea. This is consistent with the spread of the fruitful olive tree. Yemeni pomegranates are considered one of the finest types in the world, followed by Taif pomegranates due to their large size. There is also another type of pomegranate, but it is grown for decoration only because its flowers are red, beautiful, and have multiple petals, and the leaves are adjacent and alternate. Noting that some sources say that the primary home of this fruit is West and Central Asia, from Iran to North India. This tree has a long history of cultivation throughout the Middle East, Asia and Europe. In the eighth century, it was transported to all of North America and is widely grown in the American state of California.
It is noteworthy that there is a type of black pomegranate, which is rare but one of the best types.
