The head of the UFC called the conditions for a rematch between Volkanovski and Makhachev

UFC head Dana White declared at a press conference that the second fight between Russian Islam Makhachev and Australian Alexander Volkanovski can take place only after both fighters fight in their weight categories.
Makhachev defended his lightweight title on February 12 in Perth, Australia, defeating Volkanovski by unanimous decision. Volkanovski holds the UFC featherweight title, but his belt was not on the line.
“When you do a superfight, it’s hard to expect a better result than what we did (in Perth). When the whole world is arguing over who won, it’s a superfight. It can only get better than this if the guy who is fighting for the interim title also puts up an incredible fight. Now we have a fight between Yair Rodriguez and Volkanovski. Let’s see what happens to Islam and who it will fight next,” White said.
The head of the UFC noted that the rematch between Makhachev and Volkanovski will be when both fighters fight each other.

Makhachev defeated Volkanovski via unanimous decision. The Australian after the fight said that he should have been recognized as the winner of the fight, since he won three rounds out of five. Makhachev replied that the Australian dominated for only one minute during the entire fight.

The next opponent of Volkanovski, Mexican Rodriguez, won 15 victories in MMA with three defeats, one more was declared invalid. At a tournament in Perth, he defeated American Josh Emmett via rear naked choke in the second round.
