The Italian ex-judge drew attention: they want to avoid having to hand out cards unnecessarily, their primary goal is to protect the positive image of the game.
– We will act hard in clear cases, because we have to do something to avoid them. At the same time, we count on you in this work, because you are extremely important to us Rosetti stated on behalf of his colleagues.
UEFA wants to name the judges who can be there at the continental tournament in Germany by the end of April. The selected referees will then take part in special training in Frankfurt between May 13 and 16.
The video referees will work from Leipzig during the European Championship, and according to the rules, they will only be able to intervene if the referees on the field make a clearly wrong decision, Rosetti claimed. The European Championship starts on June 14 and lasts until July 14. The Hungarian national team managed by Marco Rossi will meet the hosts, the Germans, the Scots and the Swiss in the group stage.
