Stefan Leuven became the first prime minister in Swedish history to be passed a vote of no confidence by parliament.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Leuven on Monday, June 28, announced his resignation.
“I asked the speaker to relieve me of my post as prime minister. The speaker will try to form a new government,” he said.
Last week, the Swedish parliament announced for the first time in history vote of no confidence in the prime minister.
This initiative was separately put forward by the Left Party and the extreme right-wing Swedish Democrats. The Christian Democratic and Moderate coalition parties also voted against the prime minister in parliament.
The main reason was the government’s intention to allow landlords to freely set the rent for apartments in new buildings.
We will remind, in 2019 in Austria for the first time announced vote of no confidence in Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and his government. Earlier there were 185 attempts to dismiss the government, but they all failed.
