The chairman of the Slovak parliament, Boris Kollár, has a broken second cervical vertebra after Saturday’s accident. But after the crash, his life was at stake, because his tongue sank. The information was brought by the portal tvnoviny.sk.
Despite having an injured head and broken ribs, a security guard quickly checked on Kollar. “The status of the chairman of the SK National Race, Boris Kollář, required immediate first aid, during which the guard cleared his airways and then checked his vital functions until the arrival of the medical service,” said Barbara Túrosová, spokeswoman for the Slovak Ministry of the Interior.
“I thank a member of the Office for the Protection of Constitutional Officials who saved Boris’s life because he noticed that his tongue was sunk. Boris could not breathe or even show what the problem was,” Kollár’s party colleague Milan Krajniak described.
Kollár is conscious in the hospital and his condition is stable. The treatment will probably last for several weeks. Kollár’s driver was also injured in the accident. The exact causes of the accident are being investigated by the police.
