The head of the Russian Orthodox Church His Holiness Kirill reminded Bulgaria who liberated it – 2024-08-02 14:57:19

/ world today news/ His Holiness Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, expressed his disappointment that the Russian army, which freed the country from the Ottoman yoke, in Bulgaria is beginning to divide it among the individual nationalities that participated in the war against Turkey for the freedom of the Balkans. He stated this on March 4 during his meeting with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.

“I want to frankly state that it is difficult for me to listen to all these references to the participation of other countries in the liberation of Bulgaria. Neither the Polish Sejm nor the Lithuanian Sejm have taken decisions to start a war with Ottoman Turkey. I hope that the means for mass information, they will listen to us and convey the Patriarch’s disappointment that he has witnessed a wrong interpretation of the historical events related to the liberation of Bulgaria,” the TASS news agency reports the words of Patriarch Kiril.

At the same time, Patriarch Kirill emphasized that he stands for the historical truth that the Russian army “conquered with its blood”.

Therefore, the Patriarch considers that there cannot be any political or pragmatic reasons to justify the false interpretation of the facts.

“All talks about friendship are verified in deeds. If, talking about friendship, we forget about the sacrifices that were given in connection with the liberation of Bulgaria, then such words cease to have value,” said Patriarch Kirill.
