Tovmasyan was handed a suspicion of a bribe extortion case. In the same case, his deputy was previously detained.
Employees of anti-corruption bodies on Wednesday, August 4, handed a suspicion to the chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Council Artur Tovmasyan in the case of extortion of a bribe. About it informs NABU press service.

The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.
According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2021, Tovmasyan, in collusion with his deputy, demanded and received an unlawful benefit of UAH 1,050,000 for retaining his position as the head of a regional communal enterprise, the founder of which is the Kharkiv Regional Council.
Within six months, officials received the entire amount in four tranches, including through the mediation of a lawyer’s accomplice.
Recall July 22 Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council Andrey Malysh was detained on a bribe of 1 million 50 thousand hryvnia. The official and his accomplice extorted money from the director of the KP so that he would not be fired from his post.
Court sent him under arrest with the alternative of paying 4.75 million hryvnia of collateral. On July 29, the required amount was deposited and he was released.
