Detained the head of the Azov-Sivash National Natural Park – the current deputy of the Melitopol City Council, which for money allowed providing tourists with access to the protected area. About this on Thursday, August 26, informs GBR press service.
In addition to official payments for car excursions around Biryuchiy Island, the official systematically took additional money from tourists, for which they could freely move around the protected area.
The head of the National Park was detained while receiving the next part of the payment right in his office.
Currently, priority investigative actions are being carried out, including searches.
The issue of reporting to an official on suspicion of extortion and obtaining an unlawful benefit is being resolved (part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He could face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property.
As previously reported, the director of the Nizhnedneprovsky National Natural Park, who is also an acting deputy of one of the regional councils of the Kherson region, suspected of negligence, due to which the state suffered damage of UAH 62 million.
