Significant personnel changes are taking place at Škoda Auto this year. Thomas Schäfer became the new Chairman of the Board of Directors in Augustwhich somewhat unexpectedly replaced the successful Bernhard Maier. Other changes in top management now follow. Škoda Auto is also announcing a new head of development.
The current member of the Board of Directors for Technical Development, Christian Strube, is retiring early at the age of 57. Johannes Neft, who has been working as the head of body development at Volkswagen and since 2016 a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Osnabrück, Volkswagen Sachsen and Sitech GmbH, has been taking over this position since 1 January 2021.
Christian Strube has held the position of Head of Development at Škoda Auto since December 2015, in recent years, among other things, he had the main responsibility for technical implementation electric SUV Enyaq iV. Previously, this graduate of ship engineering worked, among other things, at Volkswagen as the head of Conceptual Development, where he was in charge of working on a modular platform. The German manager is leaving the position of head of development just a few months after Thomas Schäfer takes over as head of the Mladá Boleslav car plant. When it became clear that Škoda would have a new boss, Strube was mentioned among the possible candidates for this position. Instead, he retires early at age 57.
However, this is not the only change in the management of Škoda Auto. Frank Schreier, Head of Quality Management, who has held various positions at the Volkswagen Group for over forty years, is also retiring. He is replaced by Florian Weymar, the current Head of Whole Car Development. Schreier has been managing the quality of Škoda since 2014.
