The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport, Václav Řehoř, is already fully reconciled with his end at the head of the state-controlled company.

As the List of Reports have already stated, Václav Řehoř’s contract on office will expire on June 27 after three years. Although the mandate on the Board of Directors of Prague Airport is five years according to the Articles of Association, the Ministry of Finance has decided not to extend its employment contract for another two years and to announce a tender for a vacant position in the company’s management.

“In connection with the dynamic development in air transport and new challenges, we consider it appropriate to announce a tender for a member of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport, within which we will assess the visions and ideas about the future direction of this strategic state participation. This procedure is completely in accordance with the Nomination Act, “Zdeněk Vojtěch, a spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, responded on Monday.

Václav Řehoř came to the former Czech Aeroholding seven years ago as a man who was personally chosen to head the state-owned company by the then Minister of Finance and current Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (Chairman of YES). However, it was the prime minister’s neighborhood who was now pushing for a quick personnel exchange.

Řehoř has not yet clearly answered the question List of Reports whether he will also participate in the tender. “In any case, I will consider whether I will present my vision of the sustainable development of Prague Airport,” the gate leaves it ajar.

Who could possibly replace Václav Řehoř on the Board of Directors is already the subject of speculation. Dan Ťok recently won an attractive position in the transport sector. He became a member of the board of directors of the state organization Railway Administration. The former minister has not yet commented on his possible involvement in the management of Prague Airport, although the List of Reports asked him whether he would apply for it or not.

However, according to information from the List of News, some of the current deputies elected for the YES movement are also in the game for the vacancy.

After adding a new member, one of the remaining three members could eventually become the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport. There is speculation mainly about the ambitions of the manager for trade, marketing and communication Jakub Puchalský, who has been with the company for less than a year and in the past also managed Czech Television, for example.

The selection procedure for a new member of the Board of Directors should be announced by the Ministry of Finance in the coming hours and should take about two weeks. The winner should be known even before Václav Řehoř ends at the end of June.
