The head of NATO accused Donald Trump of putting people’s lives at risk by inviting Russia to invade an Alliance country that “does not pay.” This is how Jens Stoltenberg responded to the words of the former US President, who said that he would “encourage” the Russian authorities to “do whatever the hell they want.”
The NATO chief said: “Any suggestion that allies will not protect each other undermines all of our security, including U.S. security, and exposes American and European soldiers to increased risk.”
“NATO remains ready and able to protect all allies. Any attack on NATO will meet with a united and decisive response. “I expect that no matter who wins the presidential election, the United States will remain a strong and committed NATO ally,” said Jens Stoltenberg.
Earlier, the Telegraph reported that on Saturday, February 10, Donald Trump said that he would allow Russia to do “whatever the hell they want” with those NATO countries that did not allocate enough funds for defense. Thus, the ex-President of the United States promised not to comply with the main point of the Alliance charter on collective defense if he again became the head of the United States.
