The head of Iranian diplomacy claims to have “received indications” before the Israeli attack

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that he had “received indications” before the Israeli airstrikes which targeted military installations in Iran the day before. The head of Iranian diplomacy reiterated that the Islamic Republic had the “right to respond”.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that he had “received indications” before the Israeli airstrikes which targeted military installations in Iran the day before. “We have received indications since the evening about the possibility of an attack that night,” Abbas Araghchi told the press on Sunday, without specifying the nature of these indications.

“Limited damage”

Abbas Araghchi said “necessary measures” had been taken during the attack which killed four soldiers and caused “limited damage”, according to the Iranian army. The minister added that he had been in contact with military officials and that “messages had also been exchanged with different parties”, without naming them.

The head of Iranian diplomacy reiterated that the Islamic Republic had the “right to respond”. The American news site Axios, citing anonymous sources, said on Saturday that Israel had “sent a message to Iran” before the attack and had warned it “against a response”. Earlier on Sunday, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic was not seeking war, but promised an “appropriate response” to Israeli strikes.
