Danilo Galinari will join the Italian basketball team at the Tokyo Olympics, La Gazzetta della Sport reports.
It was previously reported that Italy won the Olympic ticket through one of the four qualifying tournaments, in the final of which the Italians played home against the Serbian capital Belgrade with 102: 95. In this match, as well as in previous qualifying fights, Italy could not count on the help of Galinari, who was busy in the club. However, in Tokyo he will be found in the national team.
Last season, Galinari played 51 National Basketball Association (NBA) Main Event games with an average of 13.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists. In 18 “play-off” matches, he excelled with an average of 12.8 points and 3.9 balls under the baskets, entering the final of the conference with the team, which lost to Milwaukee “Bucks” 2-4.
Galinari has also played for the Italian youth team, winning bronze with the U18 national team in 2005 and the U20 national team in 2007. He also participated in the 2015 European Championship with an adult in the national team.
Bologna “Virtus” player Marko Belinelli and Milan “Olympia” representative Jidge Datomé are continuing their rehabilitation after injuries and will not help Italy at the Olympic Games.
Italy will play in the same group as Australia, Germany and Nigeria.
