The trade season 2020 has only just begun, and we can already feel the first deals emerging. The major transfer this winter 2020 should concern the All-Star pivot of the Pistons: Andre Drummond. The rumors of a departure were already present in the media in view of the still very disappointing season of the Pistons and tonight, Adrian Wojnarowski has just confirmed that a transfer is getting closer. Today the main contender to recover Andre Drummond is the Atlanta Hawks! The Georgia Eagles are also having an incredibly disappointing season and currently have the worst record in the NBA. Yes Bring young performs miracles beyond all expectations, it’s mostly defense, inexperience, and the Hawks’ outside sector that exposes and blows up a whole project.
The Andre Drummond solution therefore seems indeed very coherent Atlanta. It should be remembered that the pivot has an expiring contract, which could extend until the summer of 2021 if he chooses to activate his player option amounting to 28 million dollars per season. This contractual instability is the very reason that pushes Dtroit to test the market and the coast that Andre Drummond has. In failure of sporting results in the current pattern, the Pistons have almost nothing to lose. If a departure from Drummond would be a heartbreak for longtime fans (the image of the departure of Russell Westbrook towards the Rockets), it would above all be a way to turn a chaotic page in their history.
For now, the Hawks are the favorites in this case but the Pistons have already announced their intention to take their time. The trade deadline is in a month, which still leaves them some room for maneuver. As for Atlanta, we know that developing young people (Trae Young, John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter) are untouchable except surprise. It is therefore possible that it is the future choices of drafts and their number that will tip the balance or not towards the officialization of a transfer. But maybe another NBA franchise with more interesting quirks can overtake the Hawks in this matter. Tonight, the only certainty in the NBA is that Andre Drummond should be leaving Michigan by February 5.
