It’s been a year since showed the concept of the BMW i4 with its gigantic kidneys and promised range of up to 600 km on a single charge. Now we have a production version, which is not so different from the concept.
–
The huge kidneys remained, of course, but unlike the concept, the car got headlights from the conventional 4 series; after all, this car is “only” an electric version of the 4 Series Gran Coupé. The mentioned kidneys are largely blinded for lower air resistance, and for the same reason we see recessed door handles and aerodynamic wheels.
–
The taillights again come from the already sold 4 Series Coupe, but with the shapes of the rear bumper, the importance of the lowest possible air resistance is clear. Under it, of course, the exhaust tailpipes are missing, but we see a hint of a diffuser accentuated by a blue frame.
–
BMW still keeps photos of the interior to itself, but we can assume that it will not be too different from a conventional coupe. After all, why change what works great.

Likewise, the exact technical specifications are not yet known. We only know that the car will offer up to 530 horsepower and up to 590 km range according to WLTP metrics. Of course, there should be several different versions on offer. The acceleration to one hundred of the best variants should be about four seconds.
–
For the American market, the carmaker estimates a range of up to 300 miles, ie 483 km. Given that the EPA’s metrics are closer to real driving, let’s expect roughly such a finish in the highest version in the real world.
–
BMW has also not published the battery capacity now, we only have a one-year-old concept that spoke of 80 kWh and the fastest charging up to 150 kW with direct current. We do not yet know whether these numbers have changed in the production stage. We also have to wait for the price list and the start date of the sale.
