The attack took place in the residence of President Jovenel Moïse in Port-au-Prince around 01:00 on Wednesday night local time, local media reported VBI and Juno7.
The event is confirmed by the government according to a Haitian journalist who posted a photo of the press release on Twitter.
The incident has also been confirmed by the news agencies AFP and AP.
The Prime Minister of the country, Claude Joseph, strongly condemns the action.
The first lady is said to have been injured in the same attack. Her condition is unknown.
The attack allegedly took place when a group of unidentified people attacked the private home of the presidential couple at one o’clock on Wednesday night.
