The Hague rugby team in mourning after the death of a fellow player (23)

Omroep West reports on the basis of police sources that they would have been set on fire.

Flowers and candles

The mostly young participants in the tour of almost an hour walked from the Haagsche Rugby Club (HRC) to the Doorniksestraat. Flowers were laid and candles were lit where the body was found.

Teammates of the dead woman led the way in the silent march. In honor of their deceased teammate, they performed the ‘yell’ that they otherwise play before the game. After the gathering, the procession went back to the sports field.

Ximena Pieterse

Almost ten years ago, HRC lost a 15-year-old player. 15-year-old Ximena Pieterse was killed in her sleep with 20 knife wounds by Stanley A., whom she only met the night before.

Ximena’s death in 2012 caused much grief and outrage. “You hope never to experience this in your life. And most of this team are now experiencing it for the second time,” an HRC official previously told Omroep West.
