The gynecology and obstetrics specialist doctor Jesus Romero passed away this Friday, July 10, in Maracaibo, Zulia state as a result of the COVID-19 and he became the eighth doctor to die of the disease caused by the new coronavirus in the entity.
He worked at the medical center that bore his name in Villa del Rosario, Rosario de Perijá municipality.
The postgraduate chief of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zulia (LUZ), Freddy Pachano, and the Zulia State Medical College they reported his death. The College of Physicians sent a note of mourning.
“Dr. Jesús Romero, distinguished member of this union corporation, stood out in his professional practice as a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, deserving the recognition and affection of patients, colleagues and friends and especially of the community of Villa del Rosario from Perijá, a municipality in the state of Zulia, who today regret their absence, “says the statement.
Of the eight deaths of doctors by COVID-19 in Zulia state, only one has been recognized by the authorities. The other death of a doctor to be recognized was that of a pediatrician in Merida.

Nurse dies
The nurse Nadesdha González He also died from COVID-19 this Thursday, July 9, according to the entity’s College of Doctors. He was a hemotherapist and worked at the University Hospital of Maracaibo and at the Zulia Clinic. With it add 11 deaths of health workers in the entity.
At least 15 coronavirus health workers have died in the country. Ten were doctors: eight in Zulia, one in Lara and one in Merida. Three were male and female nurses: two in Zulia and one in the Capital District. They also add a biomedical engineer in Falcón and a surgical instrument in Zulia.
The non-governmental organization Médicos Unidos also reported the death of a doctor in Bolívar state by probable COVID-19 this July 10, which would raise the figure to 16.
