In the newspaper we are known for our tireless struggle to discover the facts and combat the incessant and voracious corruption and impunity. Our journalists, collaborators, columnists and readers stand out for defending freedom of expression, plural public debate, tolerance, respect for the rule of law, competition, transparency, human rights, inclusion and democracy.

Our journalistic investigations into corruption and impunity were key to President Jorge Serrano and his Vice President Gustavo Espina fleeing into exile and three presidents ending up in jail.

Countless drug traffickers and money laundering experts, senior officials, ministers and presidents, as well as large cartels have been investigated, persecuted and imprisoned for our denunciations and leaks.

The vast -overwhelming- majority of our journalistic investigations were prosecuted by the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), and for the first time in history it was possible to visualize that it was possible to eradicate corruption and impunity in Guatemala.
