The health crisis and the cessation of competitions for nearly three months had pushed the Guadeloupe Football League (LGF) to review the terms of the championship in order not to penalize the clubs. There was therefore no relegation and the Regional had played with 17 clubs. For this new season, we will have to reorganize the championship to find a competition at 14. To do this, the LGF has developed a play-off and play-down system.
Retain the first of the hens
In this version in two phases, it is a question, first of all, of qualifying the first 4 of each pool. On March 27, the first four teams from the two pools of the R1 will face each other in a play-off which will be played in a two-way match. However, it will be necessary to find the outcome of a dispute between Gauloise and Juventus to know the name of the 8th club. At the end of this mini championship a podium will be determined.
Les play-down
The nine other teams of the Regional will compete for a play-down. The goal of this mini-tournament is to determine which clubs will be relegated to Regional 2. Much like the play-offs, the three clubs to win this tournament will have won their place in Regional 1 and the other six will be relegated. . The 11 survivors of these tournaments (8 play-off teams and the 3 play-down winners) are added the first two of the two pools of Regional 2 and the winner of the play-offs between the seconds to arrive at the 14 teams that s ‘will line up for next season.
The case of CERFA
In club strategy, CERFA, an elite pole promoted by the Guadeloupe league, acts as a Against Uno card. Indeed, if he participates in the championship like all the other teams, he is not affected in the same way. Thus, he is immune from relegation and the title. In the event of qualification, it is the next club which remains takes its place, and in the event of relegation, it is the club which precedes it which will be affected. A calculation to be taken into account for club coaches.
