Principal researcher at the Reuters Institute for Journalism, Nick Newman, says that while TikTok is seen as a platform for light topics rather than serious topics such as news, events such as the Corona pandemic have changed this view.

And 44 percent in the category between 18-24 years said that they use “Tik Tok”, and these allocate 20 percent of the use of the platform to know the news.

The rate of using news among individuals in this category a year ago was 15 percent.
