The Growing Gap Between the American and European Economies: A Harsh but Realistic Analysis by Financial Times

Nearly fifteen years after the subprime crisis, the gap has never been so wide between the American economy and that of the Old Continent. In any case, this is what affirms the journalist specializing in foreign affairs of the “Financial Times”, Gideon Rachman, in a harsh but realistic article, which puts the finger on the growing backwardness of Europe.

The author addresses an “increasingly unbalanced” relationship between the two shores of the Atlantic. In 2008, the American and European economies were of a comparable size, with even a slight lead for the EU. Today, the first has reached 25 trillion dollars in 2022, while the second is below 20 trillion. “And the gap is widening,” adds the journalist.
