Everything will be played in the Cauldron. As part of the first leg for a place in Ligue 1, Auxerre got a good draw against Saint-Tienne (1-1) on Thursday.

Catchy, despite many hot situations for the Greens, the Burgundians can always dream of a return to the elite of French football in the event of a positive result on Sunday.

Greens more effective

Started well with two hot alerts in the opposing area, the Greens struck first in a stadium of Abb Deschamps which was full for this meeting. Shifted by Aouchiche, Youssouf found the fault with a fine curling shot near the surface (0-1, 15′). Technically above, ASSE manages the match without forcing. To calm the Burgundian ardor, Pascal Dupraz decided to incorporate Khazri then Boudebouz in order to put his foot on the ball. Changes that logically put the AJA in difficulty, close to the correctional on a too cross strike from Camara.

– Aouchiche launches a counter in the axis. The former Parisian, 35 meters, shifts Youssouf to his right. After good control, the Saint-Etienne midfielder landed a curling shot with his left foot at the entrance to the surface on which Lon did not stretch his arms enough (0-1, 15′).

– Charbonnier struggles to recover a ball 40 meters away and pass it on to the Tower. The captain of Auxerre reverses the right game for Perrin, who eliminates Trauco with a nice oriented control before adjusting Bernardoni with a heavy shot from the left foot under the bar (1-1, 87th).

Man of the match: Jubal (8/10)

If Auxerre can still believe in the maintenance, it is thanks to him. The Brazilian central defender made a very good impression in front of Crivelli, with whom he fought well. Above all, he made a superb intervention in front of Aouchiche to avoid the second goal from Saint-Etienne in the first period. After the break, he blocked the spaces against Nordin and Khazri to prevent ASSE from taking off. Maintenance or not, the South American had to catch the eye of some recruiters.

AUXERRE:

Donovan Lon (5) : a frustrating match for the Auxerre goalkeeper, who is not flawless on Youssouf’s goal. He clearly did not emerge from serenity tonight with a missed outing in the second period.

Carlens Arch (5) : the roller coaster for the Haitian right-back, who had a very complicated start to the match with several missed raises before winning numerous duels in his lane. He should be calmer in three days.

Tho Pellenard (6) : the central defender performed well in his long game. Even if he was jostled for more than an hour, he was able to be much more solid at the end of the game to repel the Greens despite a dangerous loss of ball before Camara’s shot.

Quentin Bernard (5) : medium. The left-back was systematically in difficulty on the rare breakthroughs of Nordin. We saw him too little offensively.

Birama Tour (6) : the Auxerre captain was fairly neutral for more than an hour. However, it is he who achieves this superb opening towards Perrin for the equalizing goal. A very nice gesture that changes everything in this meeting.

Lassine Sinayoko (5) : movement, provocation, but ultimately few concrete things. The winger at least has the merit of having tried. Replace the 62nd minute with Gatan Perrin (non not)author of an excellent entry and scorer at the end of the game.

Gauthier Hein (4) : a bad match for the playmaker passed by Valenciennes. Too shy, he was only seen at the end of the first period on an imprecise volley at the far post. Replace the 85th minute with Rmy Dugimont (non not).

Hamza Sakhi (4,5) : an average match for the Moroccan midfielder. He was closely watched by his Saint-Etienne counterparts, who did not give him the opportunity to distinguish himself to break the lines. Replace 76th minute with Alexis Trouillet (not not).

Mathias Othert (7) : Auxerre’s best attacking player in this game. Omnipresent, the playmaker scored twice on Bernardoni in the first period. He is not far from equalizing on the return from the locker room on a sudden shot which grazes the post. The appointment.

Gatan Charbonnier (5) : a disappointment lasting 87 minutes. He never managed to shake up the opposing defenders apart from a good slip ball Autret at the start of the game. It was finally he who tore himself between three Greens to keep the ball which ended in the back of the net on Perrin’s goal. An effort that is worth gold.

ST ETIENNE :

Paul Bernardoni (7): the goalkeeper on loan from Angers answered present. He was decisive twice before the break on two strikes from Autret. He makes good outings at the feet of opposing attackers but can’t do anything about Perrin’s powerful shot.

Falaye Sacko (6): diminished, the Saint-Etienne defender withstood the shock. Despite some provocations from Sinayoko, he was rarely overwhelmed in this part. Replace the 54th minute with Lucas Gourna-Douath (non not).

Harold Moukoudi (5): good and less good for the former Le Havre, who was rather interesting in the duels in front of Charbonnier but who never really came out of serenity, like this disagreement with Bernardoni in the last quarter of an hour.

Mickal Nade (5): also interesting in physical combat, the central defender from Saint-Etienne was often bothered with the ball. He missed several raises that could have put his team in difficulty.

Miguel Trauco (4): the left-back from Peru had a difficult evening. He made little contribution overall offensively but above all had difficulty blocking the Auxerre climbs in his lane. He gets caught too easily on the goal of Perrin, who eliminated him without a problem on his hook.

Adil Aouchiche (7): in a central position, the midfielder trained at PSG made a good impression. Decisive passer on Youssouf’s goal, he is not far from the break on a point-blank shot pushed back by Jubal. He was active in the recovery even if he could have followed better on certain attacks. Replace the 65th minute with Ryad Boudebouz (non not).

Zaydou Youssouf (6.5): a nice goal to launch the Greens and a good job at pressing, the midfielder form Bordeaux did the job. He nevertheless lowered his foot very quickly after the break. Replace the 54th minute with Gabriel Silva (non not).

Mahdi Camara (5.5): a correct meeting, nothing more. Rather present in the recovery, he can however blame himself for his cross shot too hasty at the end of the match.

Arnaud Nordin (5): an irregular match for the future Montpellier player. He was sharp on his rare breakthroughs, notably offering Aouchiche a nice ball from the goal at the start of the match. But we have generally seen too little of it. Replace the 83rd minute with Yvann Maon (non not).

Enzo Crivelli (4.5): for his first tenure since his arrival, the striker passed by Bordeaux necessarily had little rhythm. Despite everything, he gave himself enormously to hamper the Auxerre defenders, fighting a good battle with Jubal. Didn’t get a chance tonight. Replace 53rd minute with Wahbi Khazri (not not).

Denis Bouanga (4.5): a tone below. The Gabonese striker was stirring but he was not as sharp as on his last outings in the league. An efficiency problem that he will have to solve during the second round.
